Timescales Update From Redress Scotland - April 2026
2 Apr 2026
News
Redress Scotland is committed to ensuring that survivors receive their application outcome as quickly as possible. Following additional funding for the period October 2025 to March 2026, we have been able to increase our panel capacity allowing us to hold 12 additional 3-person panels, resulting in an additional 90 decisions being made. Nine additional panel members have also joined Redress Scotland’s decision-making body, bringing the total number of panel members in the organisation to 53.
With additional funding to be received as of April 2026, we will continue to increase our capacity and reduce the wait times for survivors receiving their decision.
IAP Applications
Currently, the wait time for a 3-person panel to look at an application for an Individually Assessed Payment is within 9 months of Redress Scotland receiving this from Scottish Government. We have now revised this to within 8 months.
Please note, that the waiting time for applicants who have a terminal illness (priority 1) or who are aged over 68 (priority 2) remains unchanged and we expect a panel to take place within 6 weeks of your application being received.
Fixed Payment and Next of Kin Applications
Our current wait time for a 2-person panel to look at a Fixed Payment or Next of Kin application is within 8 months of Redress Scotland receiving this from Scottish Government.
Due to the additional panels we have been able to hold, we are pleased to revise this to within 4 months.
Please note, that the waiting time for applicants who have a terminal illness (priority 1) or who are aged over 68 (priority 2) remains unchanged and we expect a panel to take place within 6 weeks of your application being received.
Reviews
The timescales for a review of your decision remains unchanged and we expect a panel to take place within 2 months of receiving these applications from Scottish Government.
