Dr Kirsty Darwent – King’s New Year Honors List 2026

Redress Scotland Chair Dr Kirsty Darwent has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, in the King’s New Year Honors List 2026, in recognition of her service to the Scottish People, including her role as Chair on the Scottish Fire and Rescue Board for over 8 years, and Chair of the Board at Redress Scotland.

Speaking about the honour, Kirsty said: “I am honoured to have received the award for services to the Scottish People. It has been a privilege to be have had the opportunity to contribute to some wonderful organisations, including Redress Scotland and I hope that this honour reflects positively on the important work that we do together.

I am looking forward to receiving the honour and bringing my family to the celebration.”

Redress Scotland chief executive, Joanna McCreadie, said: “The entire Redress Scotland team and our panel members congratulate Kirsty on this well-deserved award. Kirsty has a wide range of experience working with people affected by trauma as well as chairing several third and public sector boards. Her knowledge and expertise is invaluable to our organisation and her commitment to ensuring survivors are at the heart of everything we do is unwavering.”

Redress Scotland is responsible for making decisions on applications from survivors and their next of kin for redress.

The King’s New Year Honours List recognises the achievements and service of people who have : made achievements in public life; and committed themselves to serving and helping the UK.
