Date received: 24 July 2023
Date responded: 21 August 2023

Information Requested:

Request: Compensation payments
1. The total amount spent on compensation payments in the financial year 2022-23?
2. The total spent on rectifying errors in the financial year 2022-23?

Redress Scotland’s Response:

1. The total amount spent on compensation payments in the financial year 2022-23? There have been no compensation payments in the financial year 2022-23.
2. The total spent on rectifying errors in the financial year 2022-23? As this question would require analysis work that involves a number of staff and teams, we will not be able to answer at this time.
Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act allows us to decline to answer FOI requests when we estimate it would cost us more than £450 (18 hours of work, calculated at £25 per hour as the legislation sets out), which this question would exceed. This is because information has not been logged on our spend for correcting errors, so this would therefore require work to pull the information together before analysis could then be undertaken across the staff and teams mentioned above. The cost of this work would therefore likely be more than the initial rectifying of errors itself.
